What is going on at Olympus?

mp003c4366

I swapped my Nikon DSLR full frame for the Olympus Micro Four Thirds system and have been delighted with the results. So it was with some anxiety that I read of Olympus' intention to sell off its camera and lenses side of the business to a Japanese Private Equity firm.

Various blogs on the internet did nothing to lessen my fears, with talk of asset stripping and someone predicting the end of such cameras as the EM1 and EM5.

But then I read of Olympus publishing a road map launching two new Pro series zooms, one telephoto, the other wide angle.

Oh well, best keep taking pictures with what kit I have, but watch this space.

How are the mighty fallen! After more than 80 years in the business selling off, although I guess the brand name will continue. Having seen what can be produced on Olympus kit it does not look like its just bad product.
