Links and Affiliations
The Club is a member of the Federation of South London Photographic Societies (SLF) and the Surrey Photographic Association. The SLF facilitates activities and interchange between photographic clubs in the South London area and organises a range of competitions between member clubs.
MCC has close links to the London Borough of Merton’s Heritage Department, and with the Mitcham Cricket Green Community & Heritage group. We regularly participate in the Merton Heritage Department's Discovery Days where the Club displays work and engages with other local societies and organisations. In May 2016, Merton held the ‘Carved In Stone’ event to commemorate the 1st World War, and we supported this by taking photographs around the borough of WW1 memorials.
We have also developed ties to a local community group, Mitcham Cricket Green Community & Heritage when they were asked to photograph a local restoration event sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). This has led onto a similar event with the local Council that is looking for HLF support to re-vitalise the Canons House and Park.
Charitable Aims
The Club has charity status with the aims to advance the education of the public in the art and science of photography, its theory and practice, by the provision of lectures, workshops, competitions, exhibitions, information, advice and other related matters.
As a charity we can recover income tax on donations provided that the donor is a UK taxpayer and has signed the appropriate form. This concession is a valuable addition to Club funds.
